Veneers are coverings that are attached to the front of teeth to give them a better appearance. They’re very thin and hard to distinguish from a person’s natural teeth. At our Bridgeport dental practice, we apply dental veneers to several patients each week.
There are two main types of veneers: porcelain and composite resin. Each type has its benefits and drawbacks. If you’re interested in improving the appearance of your smile or covering up a chipped tooth, we would be more than happy to discuss your options.
Porcelain veneers are very resilient and durable. They usually last longer than composite resin veneers for most patients. Another perk of these veneers is that they don’t stain easily. People often get veneers for cosmetic purposes. It would be counterproductive for the veneers to stain easily, leading to a dark smile.
We usually apply porcelain veneers over a couple of visits. At our dental office, we make sure that our clients understand that the application of veneers will require the removal of some tooth enamel. Once enamel is removed, it can’t grow back.
That shouldn’t matter if you’re getting veneers, though. They’ll keep your teeth and smile looking great. If they’re damaged, they can be fixed or replaced.
Composite Resin Veneers
Composite resin veneers are less durable than porcelain ones, but they have their benefits too. For example, composite resin veneers are cheaper. They also require the removal of less tooth enamel than that with porcelain veneers.
While they’re more prone to damage, they’re also easier to fix. Composite resin veneers are applied in fewer visits and might even be applied in a single one. If you’re looking for a cheap and simpler option, composite resin veneers might be the way to go. Nonetheless, you should take care as they’re not as resilient as porcelain veneers or natural teeth.
We’ll always tell you the options and give our recommendations. Which type of veneers in Chicago you get is completely your choice. Regardless of what you choose, our dentist in Bridgeport, Chicago will do their best to apply the veneers as best as possible so that they last for a long time.
